Why do we take the disgrace?????

Today what I am going to share is something that most of the girls face almost everyday. Though some ignore it some retaliate obviously it solely depends on one’s temperament. People who know me know that I am very short tempered and always on my foot to fight for a cause, those who don’t have varied opinions. Let me jump on to the topic without dragging much.

I am talking about eve teasing. It is something that has become a routine for girls who DARE to step out of the confines of their homely corridors. Thanks to the patriarchal society that still believes that it’s better that girls remain silent and keep listening and ignoring the taunts and comments of men. Yes those men who have every right to trample upon her dignity, to say what they feel and pass foul comments to a girl whom they have never seen, who has never been offensive to them. As per them they have every right to comment because they are men, rulers of the patriarchal society.
Something similar happened. Men are addicted to proving their traits and so was this group of boys who tried clicking our photographs (me and my friends). And god knows for what reason and what fun it provides irritating a girl and what point they want to prove. But as I said above I am somebody with a real bad temperament I can’t stand anybody doing such vile act and I informed the Delhi police placed in the university campus. I won’t go into the elaborations of the incident and try to cut it short , these men fled as soon as they saw the police coming but yes returned back to pass on highly unacceptable comments yelling and abusing on the road.

For them it was fun and a way of seeking pleasure. Super pissed off with the incident I called the control room and registered a complaint and gave the bike number to the police in charge.

I headed to meet my friends which included a few of my seniors and was further baffled when few of them said that the best way to tackle this is to ignore. He might be right in his way but it’s something that I want to ask you people for how long we ignore such incidents. I agree to the fact that it was minor but it was a stranger who tried to harm my dignity. And it happens to very girl everyday and I strongly believe that the fault is ours. Why??? Why???? Why don’t we give them then and there? There are several laws which have been made for the safety of women. Delhi has special women cell and its not that police doesn’t take care they do peep into the matter I got so many calls from the police after that single call of mine. I agree that the process is slow and not that efficient but putting the blame on inefficiency of the police doesn’t hide our coward-ness.

We face this every day because we let it happen to us again and again and prefer to keep mum. According to NCRB 2007 report there has been 185312 cases registered under IPC and SLL of crime against women.
And mind you this is the figure of cases registered officially, there’ no need to say that the unregistered cases are much higher than the figures mentioned above.

Eve Teasing has become a bane for females because most of them themselves are impotent to raise their voice against the miscreants. It was just yesterday that the news channels and newspapers were flooding with the story of this 20 year old girl who killed a terrorist who was armed with AK 47 and is supposedly LeT commander, just with her wit and bravery. She was totally unarmed.

When she can why can’t we? People who hurt our dignity are no less hateful. And the fact is a person involving in such low act is not strong even. But yes its, we the girls who give him a reason to feel proud of his disgraceful act by not giving him a good lesson then and there. And till the time we behave in such a cowardly manner the things would continue the same way. We would face the same disgrace everyday and may be gradually become addicted to live a life where we don’t have any dignity of ours. It’s on us to decide now. I know I can’t tolerate this you decide your way.

The Maiden in the Sky

This is something that i scribbled when i was in 8th class. Because I believed and still do that love has great power.....

I saw her on the mountain high,Amidst the sky like a beautiful maiden she lieHer bound spell beauty made me thinkWithout giving a single wink,Can there be someone so nice who can melt even the vice??? Her eyes like a deep ocean, made me plunge into the pool of emotion. Her mesmerizing smile carried me away a mile,She came near me, my heart skipped a beat. She touched me, I could feel the heat.Slowly she whispered, “Let down your sin, be a man spread love and you will win,” and she vanished. The loving words made me change, from no man to man.The power of love showed its beauty by making a priest out of a beast.
